Recap of SVG's Sports Content Management Forum

Here are some insights the Kiswe team picked up during the event in New York City.

Last week, our friends at SVG held their annual Sports Content Management Forum in New York City. The in-person event included sessions centered around media asset management and featured the leading sports broadcasters, leagues, teams, media, and technology companies. The team at Kiswe had the opportunity to attend the event and connect with fellow leaders in the industry. Through meetings and various sessions, the forum provided key learnings about the current state of the industry.

Today, the expectation from consumers is that all content is bespoke. To manage and meet this expectation, major sports media organizations are taking a closer look at all their content and finding new ways to deliver that to their consumers – with everything from different camera angles, to new narratives, to a more extensive library. By creating and delivering more tailored content, audiences are likelier to connect and stay engaged.

Additionally, with a migration to cloud-based workflows including editing, archiving, and storing content, the importance of metadata is paramount. The ability to access and locate files accurately and efficiently within the cloud via meaningful metadata is crucial in the future of content management. Using the right metadata also ensures that consumers discover the proper content for them. As the media landscape is constantly evolving, sports media companies need to be adaptable and consider the long-term nature of their assets.
